Sleeping Wedges

You know those sleeping positioner things? (I call them sleeping wedges) Well, I normally don't use them actually I used them the other night for the first time in 7 months. I was thinking Jericho was to old for them but I was a little desperate and willing to try anything. Jericho didn't sleep well in Colorado, not a big surprise she was in a different room with a different crib and her daddy wasn't there. What has been a surprise is that we've been home for almost 2 weeks and she still hasn't slept through the night. Some of you might be thinking well she's a baby, babies are known for not sleeping through the night. That may be true for most babies but my sweet wonderful daughter has always (since she was 6 weeks old) slept through the night. Now please note that I am not complaining that she isn't sleeping through the night because I have had many restful uninterrupted nights of sleep and I'm so thankful for that! However, this isn't my daughter and it's starting to worry me a little. She's normally a great sleeper. But she hasn't been sleeping through the night she has been waking up not once but twice and sometimes three times a night and I'm at a loss. I want her to sleep through the night again so I can stop worrying about her (plus it would be nice to get a good night sleep again! I give mommies who are up all night long with crying babies a lot of credit.) I've been getting up and feeding her wondering if she is needing more to eat (the reason we started cereal) or is it that she's getting her front teeth in and waking up because they are hurting her or is it that she keeps rolling to her belly and can't seem to figure out how to get back over (she sleeps on her back and has a really hard time falling asleep on her belly) Not only is she not sleeping, she is exploding in the middle of the night (I do think this is because she is teething) I've had to change a poopy Jericho and I mean poopy, her sleeper, her sheets, the works for the last 3 nights. She's explosive. It's not pretty. Oh where did my sweet

Whoa sorry I was trying to tell you the story about the picture and I got way carried away with the explanation on why I was so desperate but I think you got the picture. Okay so back to the picture I was desperate to get her to sleep through the night. She woke up last night before we went to bed so I want in to feed her and while I was feeding her I was wracking my brain trying to think of what I could do to help her sleep, I remembered a friend had given me wedges for when she was a newborn (I never used them because she was such a good sleeper) so I busted them out and put her in them hoping it would keep her from rolling over to her belly. We went to bed after I fed her and put her in the wedges, but couldn't sleep so I was up for another hour. I always kiss Jericho goodnight before I go to bed so even though I had just fed her and put her down once again I couldn't help but go in and kiss her once again, plus I wanted to see how the sleeping wedges were working out for her. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw this

My daughter perfectly in her sleeping wedges ON HER BELLY! How in the world did she do that? The other thing that got me is that her blanket was perfectly positioned over her (I moved it so you could see the wedges in the picture) I mean I spread her blanket over her when I lay her down but she was on her back - in the wedges - I mean SERIOUSLY how did she get on her belly, in the wedges, with the blanket perfectly over her. She amazes me! Oh and in case you were wondering she woke up one more time that night and she wasn't even close to her wedges so no they didn't work.

I love it! Since I just read both of your new posts, I'll comment on both - her laugh is so great! it looks like you guys had a great day! And, I use the sleep positioners for Austin because he likes to sleep on his side, though lately, he has been wiggling onto his back too - blankets & positioners in place, but somehow he wedges himself into the little space...mystery to me!

So funny..that silly girl. I do know that once teething starts it can totally mess up any good sleeping habits so maybe that is it. Lately K has been getting up several times a night...and I am pretty sure his 2 year old molars are about to pop through. Although...who really knows!

She's precious! Could she be about to crawl? Sometimes when they start crawling or any other big milestone, they'll have trouble sleeping.

I don't normally comment, but I check in on you guys from time to time. I found your blog through Joshua's story.
